| SENILITY AND
CLEANING
A huge apology to
Kelsey and a giant plug for playkind.
First I lost
Kelsey's email and thus did not include it into Tuesday's newsletter. Then last
night the internet connection here slowed to a halt and I couldn't get it out
and this reminded me of the old hoax from the early days of the internet.
Remember "Internet Clean-up Day"? So many people believed it and forwarded it
around the world.
And here it is, a piece of internet hoax
nostalgia:
Subj:
Internet Cleanup Day THIS MESSAGE WILL AGAIN BE REPEATED IN MID
FEBRUARY. *** Attention *** It's that time again! As many of you know,
each year the Internet must be shut down for 24 hours in order to allow us to
clean it. The cleaning process, which eliminates dead email and inactive ftp,
www and gopher sites, allows for a better working and faster Internet. This
year, the cleaning process will take place from 12:01 a.m.. GMT on February 27
until 12:01 a.m. GMT on February 28 (the time least likely to interfere with
ongoing work). During that 24-hour period, five powerful Internet search engines
situated around the world will search the Internet and delete any data that they
find. In order to protect your valuable data from deletion we ask that you do
the following:
1. Disconnect all terminals and local area networks from
their Internet connections. 2. Shut down all Internet servers, or disconnect
them from the Internet. 3. Disconnect all disks and hard drives from any
connections to the Internet. 4. Refrain from connecting any computer to the
Internet in any way. We understand the inconvenience that this may cause some
Internet users, and we apologize. However, we are certain that any
inconveniences will be more than made up for by the increased speed and
efficiency of the Internet, once it has been cleared of electronic flotsam and
jetsam. We thank you for your cooperation.
P.S. Happy Birthdays Gershon and Maureen.

THE
SCOOP: “Boston Marriage” is a 19th C term for two women who lived together
instead of marrying. In this hilarious Victorian-style comedy of manners, Anna
and Claire are two witty “women of fashion” - and of a certain age - who have
been together for years supporting themselves against all odds. The comedy
begins on the afternoon that Anna jubilantly announces that she has procured a
“protector” who will support them and Claire reveals she has fallen in love with
a younger woman. They bicker and banter and take out their frustrations on their
hapless Scottish parlor maid. The plot twists and turns and includes a
missing jewel, a séance, and other surprises that will leave you reeling with
laughter. In celebration of Massachusetts’ second year of legalized marriage,
come enjoy the fun as marriage and love prevail through all.
THE
CRITICAL ACCLAIM: Wickedly, wittily entertaining. What makes the play such
brilliant fun is its marriage of glinting period artifice and contemporary
frankness.” --The Boston Phoenix
Brilliant! one of the funniest
American comedies in years.” --The New York Post
Devastatingly
funny. exceptionally clever. demonstrates anew [Mamet’s] technical virtuosity
and flexibility. --The New York Times
"OMG! It reminds me of a
song I wrote and recorded called, "Such are the Dreams of the Everyday
Housewife!" --Glen Campbell
"Come to think of it, this reminds
me of a song I wrote called, "I am the Lineman for the County". --Glen
Campbell
"My megahit, *Galveston* would be PERFECT in this
play!" --Glen Campbell
"Rock on". --Glen
Campbell
